Join Teacher Lisa on a wild adventure in our Summer Reading Safari camp! Over 5 weeks, children ages 4-7 will embark on a journey through the savannah (twice a week), exploring different animals, reading exciting stories, and creating fun crafts. Each week, we'll discover a new animal friend, from majestic lions to curious giraffes. What We'll Cover: 5 weeks of themed adventures, featuring a new animal each week Weekly topics will include: Week 1 (June 2, 3): Lions, Giraffes Week 2 (June 9, 10): Zebras, Elephants Week 3(June 16, 17): Monkeys, Snakes Week 4 (June 30, July 1): Cheetahs, Hyenas Week 5 (July 7, 8): Rhinos, Hippopotamuses Week 1 (July 14, 15): Lions, Giraffes Week 2 (July 21, 22): Zebras, Elephants Week 3 July (July 28-29): Monkeys, Snakes Week 4 (Aug 4, 5): Cheetahs, Hyenas Week 5 (Aug 11, 12): Rhinos, Hippopotamuses Class Structure: Each class will follow a predictable routine: Introductions and greetings Read-aloud session featuring an exciting story Fun activity, craft, or game related to the week's theme Goodbye song to wrap up the session Digital Book Basket: Each week, learners will have access to a digital Book Basket featuring age-appropriate books that match the theme. These books will be available for reading and exploration throughout the week. Flexibility: Students can join one day of camp or all 10 sessions - we welcome you to join us for as many or as few sessions as you'd like! Teaching Style: Our class is designed to be interactive and engaging, with a focus on multi-sensory learning. Teacher Lisa will use a combination of storytelling, hands-on activities, and games to keep children excited about reading and learning. Interaction: Learners will have ample opportunities to interact with Teacher Lisa and their peers through: Q&A sessions during read-alouds Collaborative activities and games Sharing their creations and thoughts during craft sessions No Prior Experience Necessary: This class is perfect for children with little to no prior reading experience. Our goal is to foster a love for reading and learning in a supportive environment. Pacing: The class will move at a pace that allows children to absorb and enjoy the material. We'll take breaks when needed, and Teacher Lisa will be available for individualized support. Each Week's Highlights: A new animal friend to discover A fun craft or game to reinforce learning Access to our digital Book Basket featuring themed books Interactive read-aloud sessions with Teacher Lisa Join us on this exciting adventure, and let's go on a Summer Reading Safari together!

If students want to make the craft along with us in class, supplies for crafts will be needed. A list will be sent of optional supplies once you have registered for class. Most craft supplies needed for Summer Safari are common items often already on hand at home.

As an experienced educator with a Master's degree in Elementary Education and 30 additional graduate hours in Reading Theory and Intervention, I bring over 20 years of expertise in teaching and supporting students of various ages and learning needs.
In traditional classroom settings, I've had the privilege of teaching and serving as a reading interventionist, where I developed and implemented effective reading strategies to help students achieve academic success.
Over the past 7 years, I've transitioned to virtual teaching, further expanding my skills in online education and working with students of all ages in digital environments. This experience has allowed me to adapt my teaching methods to meet the unique needs of virtual learners, ensuring engaging and interactive learning experiences.
Throughout my career, I've worked with children across various age groups, cultivating a deep understanding of child development and learning styles. My extensive background in reading theory and intervention has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to design and deliver high-quality reading programs that cater to diverse learning needs.
I'm excited to leverage my expertise and passion for education to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for students in the Summer Reading Safari program.
