Experiencia de clase

You are invited to join us in the magical land called the Rainbow Path. Students arrive through the Wood Between the Worlds. The week of camp is designed to be as if the students are attending the school itself. They will be sorted into houses in the Magical Mirror. Our magical school has four houses, Windhorse, Stonedragon, Phoenixfire, and Waverider. All students are sorted into houses and we have a house cup competition throughout the week. The Imaginorium Academy has been running for many years, so maybe you have joined us before? If this is your first time, welcome!

This summer we will be rehearsing and performing a student-written play! "In Between Dreams: The Adventures of Ashlyn Ashwinder" by Natalie Bates tells the story of a quirky crew of Dream Pirates in the Land of In-Between. Edited by Iris Imaginoria, this student-written play will be a lot of fun for us to explore together.

The daily schedule looks like this:
12-12:20 Opening and House Commons - 20 minutes
12:20 - 1:20 Rehearsal - 60 minutes
1:20-1:30- Break - 10 minutes - students will be encouraged to move around, go to the bathroom if they need to, get a snack, socialize. They can stay with the group or not.
1:30-2:15 - The Wood Between the Worlds
2:15-3:00 - Class - 45 minutes (further exploring dreams and magic)
Students will visit the Wood Between the Worlds in Nearpod where they will practice making portals. They will also visit:
- Milo's Armory for Magical Tools
- Kiki's Boutique for their costume design
- The Drum Circle in the South
- The Neverending Library and
- Pepper Piper's Proper Pub for Diverse and Delectable Edible Delights and Tongue Twisters

Classes will include:

Our Mission at the Imaginorium Academy is empowerment through the creative arts, opening doors to the imagination through exploration of mythic and fantasy worlds. We accept and teach diversity of race, religion, class, abilities, sexual orientation, & gender identity at all age levels. We seek to create a safe space for all. We will use the external resources of Nearpod and Google Docs. Nearpod is an interactive learning platform that allows games and other activities (like a virtual field trip). We will use this as part of the "Wood Between the Worlds" part of our camp each day. We will share a unique link with the students. They only need to enter a name and/or nickname, no other info, to sign in. Most use a separate window in the same computer or device, but some like to have a second device for Nearpod. You can look at Nearpod in general in advance at Nearpod.com, but we won't have the live links for our sessions until the actual day of camp. We will also be using google docs for the script of the play. When we rehearse and perform, each student must have a way to open the script themselves, either in another window or on another device, or by printing. All files, folders, and links will be in the classroom. I will send a printable packet to add to the supply list about a week before camp. Since supplies are difficult to find right now, we tried to keep our supplies simple for this camp. Due to the way Outschool records its videos, the final class on Friday is split into two separate sessions. This is for recording purposes.
Lista de útiles escolares
We will be using all items that can be commonly found in nearly anyone's home. Students will be asked to have the following materials:
1) Paper
2) Scissors
3) Tape
5) Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
6) Vinegar
7) Baking Soda
8) Wide-mouthed clear cup
9) Food coloring
10) Water
11) Pretty rocks
12) A flashlight
13) Rhythm instruments (drums, sticks, etc.)
14) The printable packet we post in the classroom

Each day the students will also be given a costume challenge for the next day and they will receive house points for coming to camp in costume according to the theme. We do not give out the challenges in advance because they should be based on creativity. Students are not supposed to ask you to buy things for the costume challenges but to work with what they have available.

This camp encourages students to roleplay magical school in an original magical world called The Rainbow Path. The play we will be doing, "In Between Dreams" will be available for purchase if they would prefer a book copy, though we will make an electronic copy available. We will refer to Iris Imaginoria's book, "Imagine the Key: A Rainbow Path Novel" (published in 2022, PRISMagical Press) and will read some passages from the book during the camp. All registered parents and students will receive access to a recording of the play "The Key to the Rainbow Path" (which has a similar storyline) and the script of this earlier play so they can have an introduction to the world of the Rainbow Path (especially if they are not already enrolled in one of Iris Imaginoria's Rainbow Path classes). They will also receive a link to the play "Captain Bob and the Dolphins" where the character of Ashlyn Ashwinder is introduced.
