**OVERVIEW** Studio Ghibli is iconic in Japanese culture. It is equivalent to Disney in the U.S. If anyone is to learn about Japan or visit Japan one day, they NEED TO know about Studio Ghibli! **STRUCTURE** This interactive class is tailored for students who are new to Japanese language and culture. Throughout the course, we will learn vocabulary words and sentences from the following Studio Ghibli films: 1st Class - My Neighbor Totoro 2nd Class - Ponyo 3rd Class - The Secret World of Arrietty 4th Class - Spirited Away 5th Class - Kiki's Delivery Service 6th Class - Castle in the Sky 7th Class - Howl's Moving Castle 8th Class - The Cat Returns To enhance the learning experience, we will employ fun & effective language learning techniques to aid students in remembering vocabulary and sentences. Students are encouraged to actively participate by repeating words and sentences with me. For those who prefer not to speak, taking notes is a welcomed alternative. After each lesson, I will share the slides with the students so that they can review the content at their own pace. I also encourage students to complete the optional homework assignments for extra practice. **PARENTAL GUIDANCE** Please note that we will not watch the movies in class, but we might preview the trailer to practice some listening. However, if students haven't seen them, they are still welcome to join and learn about the movies beforehand.
