Experiencia de clase

Students will hear the story of Tyree Guyton. Mr. Guyton is an African American artist who is known for the art he creates in his neighborhood and yard, using items considered trash to many. Students will discuss the idea of who gets to decide what is art and what materials are considered trash. After the story has been read, students will use the random items considered trash or recyclables from around the house to create a piece of art. The teacher will provide an inspiration word (Ex. Animal) for them to use as a shared theme in making their art. Items will then be shared with peers.
Metas de aprendizaje
1. Students will learn about Tyree Guyton
2. Students will be asked a variety of questions about what people consider art vs trash
3. Students will use their creativity to make their own art from items found around the house.
