Chinese Lunar New Year is coming! It is the most important festival in Chinese culture. Let's read the story "Lunar New Year" by Hannah Eliot (Illustrated by Alina Chau) and find out what people do and how to celebrate at the Spring Festival! This story will tell most of the customs of the Spring Festival, including firecrackers, lion and dragon dancing, the 12 zodiac animals, and so on. After the story, students will do a simple colouring activity, using the template I sent them in the class announcement. They will have 20 minutes to colour the picture they chose. Agenda: Ice-Breaker --- 5 minutes Read Aloud: Lunar New Year --- 10 minutes Activity: New Year's Coloring --- 15 minutes Notice: The template of the colouring activity will have to be printed out IN ADVANCE.
