In this comprehensive 9-lesson Stock Market course, students will embark on an immersive journey into the world of investing. Through a mix of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, students will learn how to navigate the stock market, analyze stocks, and manage a virtual investment portfolio. Starting with an initial $100,000 in virtual cash, students will research and evaluate investments, track performance, and refine their strategies based on market conditions and economic indicators. By the end of the course, students will have a well-rounded understanding of stock market dynamics and investment principles.

Lesson 1: Introduction Information
Students will learn what a stock is and how to look up basic stock market information. They will be introduced to the $100,000 virtual simulation, setting the stage for practical investment experience.

Lesson 2: Fundamental & Technical Analysis
This lesson covers stock price and portfolio performance analysis, news items related to stocks, economic factors, and the correlation between news and stock or portfolio performance. Students will also learn to interpret stock quotes, including terms like previous close, open, bid, ask, day's range, 52-week range, volume, and average volume.

Lesson 3: Stock Quote
Students will continue analyzing stock performance, exploring market capitalization, BETA, PE ratio, EPS, earnings date, forward dividend & yield, and 1-year target estimate. The lesson also includes monitoring their stock market portfolio.

Lesson 4: The Power of Diversification
Students will learn about the importance of diversifying their investment portfolio. The lesson covers positive and negative correlations, along with ongoing analysis of stock price and portfolio performance.

Lesson 5: What is an Index?
This lesson introduces major stock market indices such as the Dow 30, S&P 500, and Nasdaq. Students will understand how these indices function and their significance in the stock market.

Lesson 6: Basic Finance and Economics
Students will explore economic cycles and learn about investing through cycle rotation. The lesson continues the analysis of stock price and portfolio performance in relation to news and economic factors.

Lesson 7: Market Orders - Different Types of Stock Market Orders
Students will learn about various types of market orders, including market order, limit order, stop order, and short selling. Practical exercises will help them understand how to place these orders in the virtual simulation.

Lesson 8: Introduction to Investing in Funds
This lesson covers the basics of investing in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds. Students will learn the benefits and risks associated with these investment vehicles and compare different types of funds.

Lesson 9: Evaluating Investment Strategies
Students will evaluate their investment strategies and overall performance of investments made during the course. This includes analyzing stock price and portfolio performance in relation to news and economic factors. Students will present their findings and reflections on the virtual investment experience.


Select your investments based on diversification and learn how to diversify their stock market game portfolio  by investing in companies in different sectors and industries.
Students learn about diversification and how investing in different companies in different industries helps reduce risk and maintain a healthy portfolio.

Students will understand that an informed investor must recognize the risks involved with every investment. Students will define and illustrate the three major kinds of risk. They will examine companies and assess their risk as investments. They will write a persuasive letter motivating or discouraging an investor from investing in a company they have researched.

Students learn the concept of diversification and its relationship to risk. They will also define the term "risk tolerance."

Understanding and Assessing Investment Risks
Students will identify the three major types of investment risks, assess company risks, and craft persuasive letters advising on investment decisions based on their research.

Risk and Diversification
Students will grasp the concept of diversification, understand its role in reducing risk, and define "risk tolerance."

By the end of this course, students will have a well-rounded understanding of the stock market and essential investment strategies, preparing them for future financial decisions. We look forward to embarking on this educational journey together!

Students will have the opportunity to interact and discuss with other classmates during weekly discussions. Each lesson involves engaging students in classroom discussion questions, and I will discuss these questions during class sessions.

I spent a week with extensive interaction on the NYSE trading floor.  My stock market game past participants earned 1st place in the state stock market game simulations with the highest percentage of profits competing against over 1200 teams.
