Scissors will be used during class to cut out a paper wax seal.
I demonstration how to make wax seals (one way is similar to how the 19th century created wax seals and an easier/safer way is shown).
Students will only OBSERVE making wax seals while in class.
The easier and safer way is included in my demonstration to help students who are interested in making their own real wax seals outside of class with parental supervision or parental approval.
Both methods of creating a wax seal involves a small flame, and hot wax.
Therefore, there are some risks associated with creating a real wax seal, if your student wants to make wax seals outside of class.
I do NOT include a supply list for making wax seals due to these risks. I do NOT want students to make a wax seal at home while in class.
Therefore, if your student is interested in making a real wax seal and you want a supply list of what is needed, please message me through Outschool. I will send you a wax seal supply list if requested.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I was a substitute teacher and assistant for two years at a Montessori Public Charter School in a nearby local town. During my teaching experience, I had the opportunity to work with students ranging from kindergarten to fourth grade. I have experience in crafts, art, cursive, and calligraphy. I have written in cursive since learning to write cursive in Elementary school. I still write in cursive as an adult, as it's my preferred method of writing. I have taken many calligraphy courses with professional calligraphers. In my exploration of historical arts, I have learned long-forgotten skills, including gilding, Copperplate script, letter folding, and making wax seals to name a few. My passion lies in preserving and sharing these historical techniques, giving students the opportunity to experience the beauty and craftsmanship of past traditions while creating their own artistic and authentic pieces.
