In this innovative course, students will delve into the cutting-edge field of Flexible Hybrid Electronics (FHE) and use their knowledge to conceptualize a product designed to benefit humanity. This course is ideal for those interested in the intersection of technology and real-world applications.

What Will Be Taught?
Students will explore the fundamentals of Flexible Hybrid Electronics (FHE), a technology that combines the flexibility of organic electronics with the performance of traditional electronics. They will learn how FHE can be applied to various fields and how to conceptualize and design products that address specific challenges or improve lives.

Topics Covered:

Introduction to Flexible Hybrid Electronics (FHE): Overview of FHE technology, including its components, manufacturing processes, and applications.
Applications of FHE: Exploration of FHE applications in diverse areas such as sports technology, military enhancements, animal welfare, and environmental solutions.
Product Conceptualization: Techniques for brainstorming and designing innovative products using FHE technology to solve real-world problems.
Impact Assessment: Evaluating the potential benefits and challenges of proposed FHE products on humanity and the environment.
Class Structure:

Lectures: Each session will begin with a detailed lecture on the principles of FHE and its applications. These lectures will provide a strong foundation for understanding the technology.
Interactive Discussions: Engage in discussions about current and future FHE applications, exploring how this technology can address various issues.
Group Activities: Collaborate in small groups to brainstorm and develop product ideas that utilize FHE to solve specific problems or enhance human well-being.
Project Work: Work on individual or group projects to conceptualize and design a product, incorporating feedback and refining ideas throughout the course.
Teaching Methodology and Style:

Dynamic Approach: The course combines lectures, multimedia resources, and hands-on activities to create a comprehensive learning experience.
Multimedia Resources: Utilize slides, video clips, and case studies to illustrate the application of FHE in different fields and provide real-world examples.
Engagement and Interaction: Active participation is encouraged through group discussions, design challenges, and feedback sessions to foster a collaborative learning environment.

Student Interaction:

Lectures and Q&A: Participate in lectures with opportunities for questions and answers to clarify concepts and deepen understanding.
Practical Exercises: Complete hands-on exercises and projects that allow for practical application of FHE concepts in product design.
Metas de aprendizaje
Understanding of FHE Technology: Students will acquire a comprehensive understanding of Flexible Hybrid Electronics, including its components, manufacturing processes, and the advantages of integrating flexible and traditional electronics.
Application of FHE in Various Fields: Students will learn how to apply FHE technology across diverse sectors such as sports, military, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability.

Lección 1:
Phase 1: Problem Identification
Students will start to identify a problem you'd like to address using topics and questions to brainstorm issues that are interesting or relatable to you.
Topics include: health monitoring, human performance, medical/global health, educations, sports, defense/military, agriculture, transportation & vehicles, packaging & distribution, energy, environment, animal welfare, and waste & recycling.

Lección 2:
Phase 1: Problem Identification Continued
From the range of problems your group brainstormed, select one problem that your team will focus on during this project. This should be something very specific that can be solved with an FHE-based hardware solution.
State the problem that you will address very clearly, focusing on the problem, not the topic. Do some quick internet research to quantify your problem. Prepare a problem statement that conveys your problem and business case up front.

Lección 3:
Phase 2: Product Development
Now that your problem has been identified, it's time to work towards a solution. Here you'll start to work through the process of conceptualizing an FHE-based hardware product the addresses your problem.
Answer the following questions:
What does your device do?
What problem does it solve?
How does it communicate or display its data?
How is your device powered?
How does it implement FHE?

Lección 4:
Phase 2: Product Development Continued
This lesson is a continuation from Lesson 3, and students will answer the following questions:
What is your device called?
How much will your device cost?
Who will you sell it to? What is your target market?
How will you advertise it?
Draw your device - Include size, shape and physical details of the piece of hardware.
Calculate based on your price and target market, how much money can you make if you sell to 20% of that target market?
