Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. 3 - 6
In this STEM class, learners will be exposed to the engineering and design process (plan, create, test, improve) as they complete a STEM challenge.

Challenge: Using the listed materials create a marble run structure.
Materials:
-Assorted cardboard tubes such as empty tissue tubes, empty paper towel tubes or empty wrapping paper tubes. If you do not have cardboard tubes you can make some by forming a cylinder from heavy weight paper or file folders.
-Thin paper plates which are easy to cut and bend. Plates with a raised edge work best.
- Section of cardboard box which you have cut and lays flat that is about the size of a large pizza box.
-Marble or other small ball.
-Scissors*
-Strong tape such as packing tape or duct tape.*

Learners will be engaged in a teacher led mini-lesson to understand the Engineer and Design Process (EDP). The challenge will be presented to learners. Learners will be guided through the (EDP) as they work to solve the challenge. Learners will share their structures live on camera.

The class is structured as teacher facilitated with learners actively engaged in a hands-on manner to work through the challenge. I will be the coach in class guiding learners as they plan, create, test their ideas and make changes to improve on their thinking.

My teaching style is flexible, relaxed and engaging. I see myself as part of the learning environment providing a safe space for budding engineers to give it a go and accept a fail (First Attempt at Learning). Learners will engage with each other and the teacher in a fluid manner throughout the class. They will share success, failure, and suggestions with each other.

*Students will use scissors and packing tape or duct tape in this class. It is recommended that an adult is present and nearby to ensure scissors are used safely and correctly. If the packing tape you use has a sharp edge for cutting, please ensure an adult is nearby to provide guidance.
