Proyecto STEAM: Fabricación de una trampa para duendes
Qué está incluido
1 reunión en vivo
55 minutos horas presencialesTarea
1 hora por semana. This is a one-time class with the Irish-folklore theme art design project, so any incomplete work can be finished independently after the class.Experiencia de clase
It’s never too early to start to learn to public speak. After a quick Ice-breaker activity, and a brief introduction to St. Patrick’s Day and the traditional Irish-folklore about the Leprechaun, learners will have an opportunity to build their own Leprechaun traps with any art supplies they already have at home (supply ideas provided) for a few minutes, before presenting their work to each other, if comfortable. They will practice working independently on their traps, while discussing with the teacher and each other ways to trap the tricky Leprechaun. No experience necessary in the topic or speaking skill. All learners are welcomed. Participation is encouraged but not mandatory, if a learner is not comfortable speaking.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will be able to plan, and build their own Leprechaun traps while using their imaginations and creativity with any materials they have available. They will learn to take turns speaking out loud to each other about their creations while having fun.

Orientación para padres
Learners will hear a kid-friendly Irish-folklore about the tricky Leprechaun. This art project is not to create any more mom-performance anxiety, but to allow children to independently use their imaginations, have fun and be creative, while practicing public speaking skills, taking turns, listening skills and more.
If parents are afraid that the learner will be disappointed when they cannot catch this magical creature in the flesh, there are plenty of ideas online where they often leave behind evidence of their presence – footprints, shamrocks, gold coins (chocolate or gold dollar coins), or a note for the children who set the trap.
Lista de útiles escolares
Prior to class, please find art supplies to have during the class that you feel is appropriate to use. Students will be creating a trap in 15-20 minutes with anything they already have and can use found around the house. Materials include, and are not limited to, building blocks, straws, colored construction papers, popsicle sticks, cotton balls, toilet paper rolls, magnetic tiles, markers, colored pencils, kid-friendly glue, scissors (younger children need to be supervised), shoebox, boxes, leaves, plastic cups, utensils, strings, rubber bands, plastic bottles, shiny coins, ...and etc.

Licenciatura desde Columbia University
Hello!
My name is Ms. Stephenie. I have been teaching various subjects for over 28 years. Although I had a few major career changes, the one thing that never changed was my passion for teaching anyone who wants to learn.
While I have a Biomedical Engineering degree from Columbia University, my students also come to me to learn non-STEM subjects, test taking strategies, music and more.
I have taught basic introduction to advanced levels in various subjects, such as math (Singapore Math, Algebra, Pre-Calc, and etc.), sciences (biology, earth science, chemistry, physics), medical/dental subjects, STEAM/STEM topics, language arts, history, languages (Mandarin Chinese, ESL), test prep (SAT, SSAT, SHSAT, ACT, AP, MCAT, DAT, COGAT/OLSAT, NYS Regents, and etc.), robotics/coding, interviewing skills (former interviewer), public speaking, and music (former competitive piano and violin player) 🎶 . I teach music theory to beginner students of all ages in fun interactive ways and have helped them with their music auditions.
As an Educational Consultant, private admissions consultant, teacher, tutor, a stay-at-home mother, PTO mom, baseball/softball and field hockey Coach, Robotics Coach and Girl Scout Troop Leader, I am passionate in guiding students to try new things, be successful in what they do and to help them accomplish their personal goals, whether it is to learn how to play tennis, or to bake cookies made from scratch, to scoring high on their college admissions exams. I enjoy what I do and always find teaching to be the best part of my day. I also love teaching my own two kids, so I understand what kind of classes kids will enjoy and learn from.
With the current technology and virtual platform, my students come from all over the world. And I also enjoy learning from my students, as not one student is alike and can teach me so much about their culture, interests and experience. There’s always so much to learn from each other. And I strongly encourage the love of learning. So let’s begin this journey together!
I am happy to try to accommodate your busy schedules, so please feel free to reach out if there is a class of interest you would like to attend, and we can work out a schedule together!
I can’t wait to see you in my classrooms!
