Learning to become an entrepreneur is fairly simple and it seems that many people out there are throwing up a sign and teaching young people to become entrepreneurs.  However, becoming a SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR can’t be learned from a book or taught by someone who hasn’t accomplished it yet.   Entrepreneurs need to be taught and mentored by successful entrepreneurs and the best teachers are doing it as they teach.  

Do you know why so few Pop-Warner Football, Pee-Wee Hockey, Little League Baseball, Youth Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball or Recreation Players don’t make it to High School, College or the Professional Ranks? It’s simple! They didn’t have the proper foundation, coaching, leadership or mentoring. 

Loaded with activity sheets, checklists, personal questionnaires, and hands-on roll-your-sleeves-up experiences, this Foundations class provides a step-by-step approach to “covering all the bases.”   Learning the fundamentals of the free enterprise system will benefit all participants.

During this 12-week intensive course, participants will identify their own strengths and weaknesses, wants, needs and goals. Mastermind with other Young Entrepreneurs in the class and interview several entrepreneurs within their community.

It is the responsibility of each student to actively complete the assignments and applied learning activities as they apply to their individual situations.  In order to create a highly individualized curriculum, the information and materials gathered for each applied learning activity may differ from participant to participant, age group to age group, and community to community depending upon the participant’s chosen entrepreneurial venture.  Applied learning refers to activities that, while not classically academic in nature, teach valuable skills. During this class, it is suggested that participants conduct interviews with individuals and business professionals regarding their perspectives on their entrepreneurial experiences and ventures and why they chose the path that they did. One of the most important prerequisites of entrepreneurship is personal freedom. Without economic freedom, we cannot hope to have a free life, much less become an entrepreneur. 

Because children are interested in money at a young age, educational psychologists state that between the ages of 5 and 14 children make many decisions about life and how they plan to handle their future. They also make decisions about money, career paths and life. After the age of 14, it becomes harder for parents to teach them new ideas. It is best to reach and teach them when they’re young and eager to learn. If they learn sound business, work, leadership and personal habits when they’re young, they won’t have to change the bad habits when they are older.

Learner Time:	
(12) 60-minute class sessions with time between sessions to gather materials and prepare for the next class. The time between classes will depend upon the student’s age and personal commitment to doing what it takes to lay the foundation for their own business. Through my years of working with children I have found that though the desire to improve their financial education is strong, some students lack of adequate support from home to make the necessary long-term changes they desire.  For this reason, parents are welcome to participant in this program to provide ample support to their children. Parent participation is strongly encouraged but not required.

About Your Instructor
Barb is a former classroom teacher who created, designed and wrote Living Math™ - A Curriculum for Schools & Parents & A Way Of Life For Children. She recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of Living Math ©1992 and its numerous financial education workshops and programs that are in use in school systems,  homes and communities across North America.  A highly sought after speaker, author, coach, and business leader, Barb began her first business venture in the 1st grade and sold it for a profit when she was in the 4th grade. When she left classroom teaching, she doubled her yearly teaching salary in less than 90 days. Today she shares her messages and experiences with audiences across the United States, Canada, Europe, India and Australia while continuing to build more successful businesses and strategic projects with her students and their families.
