Learners will be able to start collecting postage stamps if this is something that interests them after the class has ended.Experiencia de clase
Have you ever taken a close look at postage stamps and the stories they represent? While we might not send and receive letters in the mail as much as we once did, postage stamps have a unique history and represent many people, events, places and culture. Together we will explore stamps from the United States and the world. We will describe the stamps, learn about their monetary value and the stories they represent. The learners will look at stamps from my personal stamp collection and have a chance to show any stamps from collections they have started on their own. You don't need to have a stamp collection to join this class. This is a chance to learn about how you may want to start a collection or just be more aware of what you find in your mailbox. Google slides will be used to highlight some of the characteristics and background of stamps. The National Postal Museum will also be used as a resource. Join me on an adventure to find stories from stamps as we understand the design, value and background of postage stamps.

I began collecting postage stamps at age ten. I find stamps fascinating and love unique stamps that tell a story or represent culture. As a middle school teacher for over a decade, I have lots of experience instructing learners both in-person and online. As an athletic coach, I've taught many skills to middle school and high school age youth while fostering teambuilding and socialization among peers. I'm excited for this class to bring a hobby, history and learning together for a group of new stamp collectors.
