✦Students will learn through discovery, trial-and-error, and observation which structural design is best able to remain freestanding without additional supports.
✦I will cover the steps in the engineering design process, 3 dimensional shapes, gravity, and forces and motion.
✦This class is structured as a STEM challenge wherein students will be challenged to follow a set of rules (i.e. the tower must be freestanding and use only marshmallows and toothpicks) in its design.
✦ My teaching style is to give students the freedom to construct and discover concepts via hands-on approaches. I feel that when students are fully engaged, they learn more and the learning is deeper and more lasting than with more teacher-directed approaches.
✦ This is a fully interactive course as students will discuss their design approaches and what worked, what didn't, what they learned, and what they would do differently if they were to do the challenge again.

Siblings: You must purchase a separate enrollment for each child that is participating, even if two children are working on the same device. This is an Outschool Policy.
