Dive into the exciting world of spies as we learn how to break secret codes! We will discuss how codes and code-breaking helped win WW2, as well as other historical uses of code.  Students will learn the various processes they can use to break a code, and how to write a nearly unbreakable code. We will get to use our new skills as a team with some hands-on practice. Students will receive some codes they can break after class as well.

Julius Ceasar and Ceasar Cyphers
Other Monoalphabetic Codes 
Navajo Codebreakers
Frequency Analysis
Alan Turning, Marian Rejewski and breaking the Engima Code in WW2

We will learn how to make and break simple substitution codes, the Vigenère square,  and more. 
Students will utilize logic and critical thinking skills while having lots of fun. Be ready for lots of secret codes at your house after class!
