Spoken4: Clase de introducción a la poesía Slam
Esta es una clase única que presentará a su joven (13-18 años) el arte de la palabra hablada/poesía slam. La clase está diseñada para ser un taller atractivo para principiantes. Los estudiantes deben venir preparados para probar suerte con la escritura.

This one-time, introduction class is split into two parts. First, students will experience live examples of original spoken word poems, written and performed by myself. Next, students will get a chance to write their own poem to share with classmates. Students do not need to have prior experience writing poetry. - Students will analyze examples of spoken word poems to identify the basic elements of poetry.
- Students will practice pre-writing strategies like brainstorming, listing, and free-writing.
- Students will apply their understanding of poetic elements to write an original piece of poetry.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. I have 13 years experience in youth development and teaching, including one year of teaching English Language Arts in a Virginia public school. In addition, I am a sought-after spoken word poet, performing at conferences, churches, and special events from Richmond, Virginia to Chicago, Illinois.
Students will need a pen/ pencil and paper. Students should view the class from a quiet, private setting where they can devote their undivided attention to writing and attentively listening to the writing of their peers.
