Tableturf is a game within the game of Splatoon 3. It is a turn-based game for two players. Players will use their custom decks of cards to compete to fill the board. This game is great for practicing strategy and spatial awareness. Prior to class, students or parents must provide the teacher with the student's Nintendo Switch Friend code via the Outschool message system. Each week of class will follow this format: 1. Teacher will welcome students and review a few class rules. 2. The teacher will create a private Tableturf room. Students will enter the lobby and sit down at a table. Once there, students will begin playing against another student in the class. Students should get to play with multiple partners if they choose. As the teacher, I will do my best to play a round of Tableturf with every student in the class that would like to challenge me. Additionally, when I play against a student, I will discuss strategy and provide small tips to help the student to be more successful at the game. I encourage good sportsmanship. Please come to class with the mindset that everyone is here to have fun! 🚨Please Note: To play, students MUST own the game Splatoon 3, a Nintendo Switch, and be subscribed to Nintendo Switch online. Prior to the start of class, each student must send their "Nintendo Friend Code" to the teacher so that the teacher can invite the student into the private game. Orientación para padres
Prior to the class, the enrolled student (or parent) must sent the teacher their Nintendo Switch friend code. This can be found by following these steps:
1. Select your user icon from the HOME Menu to open your user page.
2. Select "Profile", and then check the right side of the screen to find your friend code.
3. Send this code to the teacher via the Outschool message system. Please do not share your friend code on the classroom page. Send it directly to the teacher through the Outschool message system.
Splatoon 3 is considered a "first person shooter" game. However, the guns that are used look like bright colored water guns and the "ammunition" is paint. The rating for this game is Everyone 10+. You can read more about the game here: https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/splatoon-3-switch
The following is more information from Nintendo regarding COPPA compliance and Nintendo
https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/387/~/what-is-the-child-online-privacy-protection-act%3F-%28coppa%29
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a U.S. federal law that applies to the online collection of personal information from children under 13 years of age.
Before children age 12 and under can participate in any online activities, a parent or guardian must set up a Nintendo Network ID (NNID) or Nintendo Account for children under age 13. To verify that a parent or guardian has granted consent, they will need to provide a valid credit card number when setting up a Nintendo Account or NNID for the child.
Once a child’s account has been created, parents can set restrictions on using specific online games, applications, and features.

Hi! My name is Lauren, but my students call me "Best Teach". I graduated from Westminster College in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I earned my Pennsylvania English as a Second Language Program Specialist K-12 certification. I moved to Shenandoah, Virginia to teach English as a Second Language in 2006. I taught over 40 students (K-12) at 4 different schools. In 2007, I moved to the traditional first grade classroom.
Since then, I have taught in many different capacities. I have taught baby sign language to parents, online for two years as an English as a Second Language teacher, and as a homeschool tutor. My most valuable teaching experience has come as a homeschool mom. I have been teaching my neurodivergent 15 year old son and neurotypical 12 year old daughter since the day they were born.
I bring a variety of classes to Outschool, because I like to pull from all of my interests and talents.
