1-2 horas por semana. Students will receive flashcards after every lesson and fun online games made by me to practice. This extra work outside of class is VERY important for a successful learning experience.Experiencia de clase
In this ongoing course, students who already have knowledge of basic vocabulary and sentence patterns (e.g. greetings, numbers from 1-20, colors, the alphabet, some animals, simple actions, adjectives, simple sentence patterns, etc..) will have a chance to continue learning and practicing Spanish through different topics. Every week, we will learn vocabulary about a particular topic (family, at home, animals, clothes, parts of the body, food, daily routines, the weather, at school, transportation, professions, places in the city, feelings and emotions, the natural world, materials, school subjects, space, and many more!) and sentence patterns so that students can practice using the vocabulary in a sentence. There are two lessons each week, so on day one, we will introduce the new vocabulary/sentence patterns, and on day two we will practice. We will also have a fun game of Blooket or Kahoot at the end of the second class! They will expand their knowledge and improve their communication skills. This class will be taught using PowerPoint slides and games in a fun, engaging, and interactive way. *Please note that learners should know how to read to be able to take this class. We do include short texts and work a bit on reading comprehension. This class runs all year, with different topics each week, and you can enroll any time of the year! Here are the topics for the month November: Week of November 4th – ¿Cada cuanto? (How often?) Week of November 11th - Hablemos de mi familia (Let's talk about my family) Week of November 18th - ¿Qué esta haciendo? (What are they doing?) Week of November 25th - ¿Qué pasa después? (What happens after? Adverbs of sequence) Week of December 2nd - ¿Cómo es tu casa? (What's your house like? Adjectives to describe homes) BEFORE THE SESSION: ✔️When signing into the platform, please make sure to display your child's name (the same one you registered them with), so that we can allow them into the session. ✔️Please make sure the student knows how to use Zoom. Show them where the chat feature is and how to mute and unmute. ✔️Camera and microphone should be on at the start of the class. We need to verify all learners through a video check for safety reasons. DURING THE SESSION: ✔️If you are sitting in the room with your child, we ask that you do not distract them by encouraging them to speak Spanish or helping them as it may disrupt the flow of the group. If your child needs help or is feeling shy, we will support them. ✔️Only the student enrolled can be seen on camera. ✔️Please make sure the student is in a quiet environment. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE CLASS: ✔️We always teach the material the first day of the week and practice the second day of the week, so if your learner misses the first class of any given week, make sure they watch the recording and work on the games and activities before their second class. ✔️Practicing outside of class is vital. Download the flashcards for them and have them work on the online games to practice the new language. ✔️Please make sure students arrive on time to avoid disruptions. ✔️We play educational games during class, and these resources are incredibly valuable. Your learner may need help during class with accessing some of them (e.g. Kahoot; Blooket). In that case, they will be given an access code. No need to sign up! The websites are: https://kahoot.it/instructions https://blooket.com/play https://www.gimkit.com/join Thank you for your cooperation!

¡Hola, bienvenidos a SOL!
Learning a new language opens a world of possibilities and helps build cultural awareness, tolerance, understanding, and respect for others. Here at SOL, we strive to provide a fun, bright, loving, and happy place for kids to learn, practice, and develop a love for the Spanish language.
Our mission is to make sure that learners have a nurturing and inclusive online learning experience that gives them the confidence they need to speak and keep learning Spanish. We believe that learning should be meaningful and engaging, so we are committed to helping kids build confidence in their Spanish language skills by providing a fun, happy, and safe space to learn and practice.
Our teachers are native Spanish speakers with a strong background in education and experience with online teaching and learning technologies. We love working with children and use a variety of strategies to engage them during class. We use a combination of theme-based instruction, gamification, and the natural approach to learning a second language. Each week, students learn new vocabulary words and related sentence patterns around a theme or topic, and learning is done through fun, interactive activities, games, songs, and short stories.
Classes are student-centered, and there is minimum language translation. Students learn their second language as they did their first language through habit formation, gentle corrections, lots of praising, and use of body language, gestures, and audio-visual aids to convey meaning.
We look forward to helping your children succeed!
