Spanish Immersion for Beginners with Native Speaker
Welcome to my “ongoing” beginner class, I have designed my Spanish lessons in a way that allows learners to begin the course at any time throughout the year.
My focus in this class is teaching learners basic Spanish through phrases not through isolated words or language, in an immersion style class.
Immersion style means I will use as much Spanish as possible to help learners begin understanding the language and then speaking it as in natural language acquisition.

Learners will be able to practice speaking through fun conversations guided by a native speaking and experienced teacher.

Through fun activities we will focus on fluency, increasing vocabulary and improving pronunciation.
The many years of experience teaching language has taught me that one of the best ways to learn a new language is by being immersed in the language and motivating the student to communicate by engaging their interests.
With every fun theme the class structure will remain the same to help students follow the lesson. The class structures is as follows:
•	Learners greeted and welcomed.
•	Vocabulary review and warm up game
•	Topic introduction
•	New vocabulary and phrases presentation
•	Lesson Slides and games
•	Vocabulary review

The themes chosen are student interest led which will help the students connect to the content and feel motivated to speak.
Through the variety of themes and content we will learn.

1. Greetings and Feelings
2. What we like and dislike
3. Our pets and favorite animals
4. What we like to eat and drink
5. How to describe using colors and numbers

Hello! Thank you for your interest in my classes. Here's a little about me and how I teach.

I have been a language teacher for over fifteen years. My native languages are Spanish and English. While I have completed many courses in language instruction and curriculum development, the most valuable insights I’ve gained have come from hands-on experience with my students.

My journey into language teaching began with teaching the children in my care Spanish. Later, I moved to Mexico and taught English in the classroom. But it was when I started my own summer language camps for kids that my passion for language education truly took off. Over the years, I’ve learned how to successfully adapt my methods to the online environment and continue to grow with every class I teach.

I use a natural language acquisition method, which means I focus on creating a language-rich environment where students absorb and acquire language in a way that mirrors how we learn our first language. Language learning is not one-size-fits-all—different age groups require different approaches, and I tailor my teaching accordingly:

Ages 7 and under: My youngest students learn through full immersion. I use stories, songs, games, and role play to create an engaging and supportive environment. At this age, children can naturally acquire a second language the way they learn their first—by listening and understanding before speaking. I do not ask them to memorize vocabulary or produce language on demand. Instead, I focus on building comprehension, allowing verbal output to emerge naturally over time. If you’re curious about how your child is progressing, I encourage you to listen in on a class rather than test them, as isolating language for assessment can interrupt the acquisition process.

Ages 8–12: With this age group, I still use immersion as the foundation, but I begin to integrate some memorization, grammar activities, songs, and stories in a way that supports their cognitive development. I focus on age-appropriate and meaningful content, ensuring that the language we use connects with their lives and interests. For example, I won’t have them read a newspaper article from a foreign country—they need to see the relevance of the language in their own world.

Ages 13 and older: Older learners often come with specific goals—whether it's passing an exam, preparing for travel, or communicating with family. I take time to understand each student's motivation and tailor the content to help them achieve those objectives. Teens and adults tend to progress quickly when the material is meaningful and aligned with their personal reasons for learning.

I’ve developed my own teaching style that is both natural and interest-based, built around sparking curiosity and joy in language learning. I believe that when students are engaged, they learn more effectively and with greater confidence.

Language opens the door to new experiences, cultures, and friendships. I look forward to helping your child develop not just the skills to speak a new language, but a genuine love for it as well.
