What Will Be Taught? This beginner-friendly Spanish class focuses on natural language acquisition through storytelling, creativity, and play. Students will build confidence in understanding and using basic Spanish vocabulary and structures (e.g., descriptions, actions, emotions) in context. Instead of memorizing word lists or grammar rules, learners will absorb the language through immersive, interactive activities centered around characters and stories they help create. Topics Covered: - Descriptive Vocabulary: Colors, emotions, physical traits, hobbies, and more. - Storytelling Essentials: Character development, problem/solution, and sequencing. - High-Frequency Phrases: Everyday language for questions, reactions, and interactions. - Cultural Tidbits: Fun insights into Spanish-speaking cultures through stories. - Grammar in Context: Simple verb forms, adjectives, and sentence structure woven naturally into activities. Class Structure: Each week, we’ll follow the Star Curriculum by Ben Slavic, a method designed to make language learning engaging and stress-free. Classes are structured in two phases: Creation Phase (20–25 minutes): Collaboratively invent a unique character or story using student suggestions (e.g., “¿Es un perro o un dragón? ¡Tiene tres ojos y le gusta bailar!”). I’ll guide learners with questions, visuals, gestures, and props to ensure comprehension. Reinforcement Phase (20–25 minutes): Retell the story together, play games (e.g., “Guess the Detail” or “What Happens Next?”), read a simplified version of the story, and explore light grammar concepts. How I Teach: - Immersion with Support: Classes are taught 90–95% in Spanish, but I use exaggerated gestures, props, drawings, and occasional English check-ins to ensure clarity. - Comprehension First: I constantly gauge understanding through “thumbs up/down,” quick quizzes (“¿Sí o no?”), and student reactions. No one gets left behind! - Low-Pressure Environment: Speaking is never forced—students participate at their comfort level, building confidence through listening and gradual participation. Teaching Style: I’m a warm, energetic instructor who believes laughter and curiosity are key to learning. My classes feel like a collaborative game: we’ll giggle at silly character ideas, act out story scenes, and celebrate “aha!” moments. Mistakes are welcomed as part of the process! Interaction & Activities: - Collaborative Storytelling: Students vote on details (e.g., “¿El personaje vive en una ciudad o en el espacio?”) and contribute ideas. - Games & Movement: Activities like “Simon Says” (“Simón dice: toca la nariz”) or role-playing keep energy high. - Visual Learning: Slides, doodles, and short video clips (e.g., animated scenes) reinforce vocabulary. Why Parents Love This Class: - No Prior Spanish Needed: Perfect for true beginners or learners needing a confidence boost. - Safe Space: I prioritize emotional safety—students never feel singled out or pressured. - Tangible Progress: Families receive optional weekly extension activities (e.g., printable stories, drawing prompts) to reinforce learning. Trademark Note: This class incorporates principles from Ben Slavic’s Star Curriculum, used with permission. Ready to learn Spanish through laughter, creativity, and stories? Let’s build a language foundation that feels like play! 🌟

Teacher Expertise:
With over 7 years of teaching experience and thousands of classes taught, I’ve dedicated my career to making language learning joyful and accessible for students of all ages. While I’ve primarily taught English as a second language (ESL) to hundreds of children and adults online, I’ve spent the past year channeling my passion for Spanish—a language I’ve mastered through immersion, travel, and dedicated study—into guiding beginners on their own language journeys.
My background includes:
Spanish Fluency: Spent five years living and working in Mexico, speaking and studying Spanish on a daily basis
Certified ESL Instructor: Trained in communicative, student-centered methods to foster confidence and practical skills.
Global Classroom Experience: Taught in schools overseas (Guatemala and Mexico) and as a K-12 substitute teacher in Florida, adapting to diverse age groups and learning styles.
Specialized Training: Completed workshops with Ben Slavic, creator of the Star Curriculum, to hone my skills in immersive, story-based language teaching.
Online Teaching Mastery: Designed and delivered engaging virtual lessons for 5+ years, specializing in dynamic, interactive activities that keep young learners focused and excited.
As a non-native Spanish speaker myself, I deeply understand the challenges—and triumphs!—of learning a new language. My classes are designed to meet students where they are, using patience, humor, and creative scaffolding to build skills without stress. Whether we’re inventing a silly three-eyed monster or acting out a story, my goal is to make Spanish feel less like a subject and more like an adventure.
Why parents trust me:
I prioritize emotional safety and inclusivity, ensuring every voice is heard.
My hybrid approach blends proven methods with real-world cultural insights.
I’ve spent years refining techniques to keep kids engaged online—no zoning out here!
