Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. Pre-Kindergarten - 1
**Please Note: This is a self-paced course, allowing your learner to watch the videos, practice the skills, and play the games when it is convenient for you. There are no live meetings for this course, but I will be available with tips, tricks, and advice to help your learner succeed.**

This fun, high energy, game-based class will help students make the jump from letter sounds to basic words. We will work together over eight classes to build the fundamental skills needed to read CVC words (dog, bat, sit). We will work together to HEAR the sounds in words to build them, MAKE the sounds in words to read them, and begin to unlock the building blocks for reading.

This self-paced class does not include live meetings. Instead, I will upload two videos each week, approximately 10-15 minutes long. I will also include links to on-line word sorts, games, and activities from wordwall.net (while games are created on wordwall.net, they are hosted on genial.ly to comply with COPPA. Learners do NOT need an account to use the materials.) I will send hands-on materials to help your learner practice blending, segmenting, and creating CVC words. On-line games include the ability to post your scores, see the scores of other learners in your class (if you'd like), and keep practicing to increase your score.

I firmly believe that parents are a learner's first and best teacher. I like to create engaging and creative materials to help parents find fun ways to help reading come alive for little learners.

Week 1 (classes 1 and 2): Focus on consonant sounds and phonemic awareness, including blending and segmenting sounds.

Week 2 (classes 3 and 4): Introduction to vowels and beginning to blend sounds using blend ladders.
.
Week 3 (classes 5 and 6): Focus on continuous blending and Switch It!

Week 4 (classes 7 and 8): In the final week of our class, I will introduce you to a variety of games that you can play at home to build their fluency and accuracy with CVC words. These games will include both on-line and hands-on opportunities.

Learners are invited to post videos of their practices, check the on-line leader board for games, ask for tips and tricks if you need help, and message the teacher for any help you may need! I will provide physical word sorts and other activities, and learners can upload photos of their completed activities to share.

This class is best for learners who have some letter-sound knowledge. Your learner should know 60+% of their letter sounds to be most successful in this course.

Supplementary material will be provided at no extra cost each week to help students learn in class and at home.
Metas de aprendizaje
Learners will be able to read CVC words, blend and segment the sounds in those words, and demonstrate strong phonemic awareness skills.
