Unlock the world of reading in this dynamic, game-based class designed to help students transition from letter sounds to mastering basic words. Over the course of eight engaging sessions, we will develop essential skills necessary for reading CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) words. - Learners will build on previous letter-sound knowledge to begin blending, segmenting, reading, and writing CVC words (dog, cat, sun). Learners will learn about stop and continuous contents, have a strong focus on short vowel sound, and be provided with plenty of practice through the use of games and activities.
I am a certified elementary teacher with years of experience in preschool and second grade. I have also taught ESL for 3 years on-line, and hold an MA in Teaching from Dominican University. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach through IMSE (30-hour morphology plus course) and the Reed Charitable Foundation (30-hour classroom educator course).
