This comprehensive fourth-grade social studies course introduces students to the geography, history, government, and economy of the United States. Learners will explore all five U.S. regions, study Native tribes and early settlers, understand the foundations of the American Revolution, and discover how government and economics work in everyday life. Each lesson includes interactive activities, hands-on projects, mock elections, and a final State Showcase presentation. Designed for online learning, this engaging course builds strong social studies skills and supports a lifelong curiosity about the world. This class is taught in a highly interactive and engaging format. Each session includes: -A teacher-led presentation with visuals and guided notes -Class discussions and question prompts to spark thinking -Slides, games, polls, and occasional short video clips -Project-based activities like mock elections, region comparison games, and a business design challenge Plus, ongoing work on the State Showcase project, which students present in the final week Students are encouraged to participate through voice, chat, or visual responses, and all materials are shared in advance for easy preparation.

Orientación para padres
This course is secular and developmentally appropriate for fourth graders. Topics such as war, colonization, and government conflict are presented in a factual and sensitive manner. Projects may involve simple crafting or poster-making at home. Students may need to access Google Slides or Google Docs through a private link shared by the teacher and each student.
Requisitos previos
No pre-reqs required. Students should have basic reading/writing skills, be able to participate in class discussions, and follow multi-step directions. Prior exposure to U.S. geography or early American history is helpful but not needed.

Unit 3 emphasizes inclusive, research-based perspectives of Native peoples, colonists, and enslaved people. This curriculum was developed by and used with the permission from Ms. Ashley, an SBA admin and teacher. Ms. Ashley graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree, majoring in both education and mathematics. Later, she went on to also earn a TESOL teacher’s certificate. She has taught over 10,000+ virtual classes in all subjects over several years on different platforms. She has 18+ years of tutoring/teaching experience, both virtual and in-person, as well as 16 years+ of experience as a volunteer teacher, tutor, and coach in schools and classrooms. In addition to teaching, Ms. Ashley is part of curriculum development and review team for an online ELA and math teaching/tutoring company, where she also serves as a Learning Partner and Academic Advisor for incoming students. Other related experience includes ELA and math tutoring the University of Connecticut Student Center, substitute teaching in the public school system and working for five years as a Financial Controller of a litigation support firm with offices across the United States. Ms. Ashley truly values each and every student, and she hopes to help them to find a love of learning.
