In this fun, participatory class, students will complete engaging Lego builds and then take turns sharing their creations as we practice active listening and work on confident speaking. The class will begin with a round of introductions and brief "ground rules" for all learners. We will then complete a series of short challenges designed to elicit creativity. After each challenge, students will share their build with the group. The instructor will encourage turn-taking, active listening, authentic compliments, and thoughtful questions from the students. The learner sharing will be encouraged to speak clearly, make eye contact, and confidently answer any questions. If time and abilities allow, the group may proceed to cooperative challenges, such as telling a story about our creations or building complementary projects.

All are welcome! All students will be met where they are and encouraged to take the next steps in developing active listening skills and cooperation as well as confidence in their own speaking abilities.

LEGO!!!! You will need a variety of bricks of different colors and sizes. Make sure you do not bring a specific set, but rather a collection of bricks that you can create your own builds from. You do not need a HUGE number of bricks, just enough that you could create a few different creations from. I usually recommend a shoebox or something slightly smaller to hold your class materials.
