Social interactions will be managed and explored in connection to general online best practice and safety. Build challenges will be criteria based to encourage computational thinking.Experiencia de clase
Minecraft is already an impressive tool for gaming and social interactions. Learners become administrators and Property owners in the unique world of Minecraft Realms! With this power, comes the responsibility to respect the and contribute to the work of your Peers. Build a village using commands and code! Destroy certain mobs in a small radius! Build a micro game to share with your friends! This ongoing class will allow you to take your skills to the next level. I will be using Realms to create permanent worlds. I will also designate land (in game property) for each learner to create their own world within the realm. Class time will be used to explore the creations of your peers and to collaborate to share work and learn from each other! June 24, Class 1: Theme: Build Challenge! (we explore a new space and try to build thematic content into the space.) July 1, Class 2: Theme: Teamwork and Collaboration! (Learn about how to be a good co-builder) July 8, Class 3: Theme: Using inspiration from Popular Culture (like Harry Potter Castles or Zelda Style ranch building) July 15, Class 4: Theme: Building Attractions (like zoos and amusement parks) Ongoing: We can recycle the 4 themes monthly, with new content, ideas and challenges. Every week, we review rules and expectations and discuss building skills to meet the challenges of the week. When new learners come, we welcome them and spend some time touring the Realm. Every new learner will be given their own space to build and create in! The class image is from an in game screen capture of a student built structure and contains no game characters.

I’m Cody Creed.
I have been a teacher for 15 years in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I have a passion for STEAM education. That is the combination of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
For my classes, these ideas come together in maker skills, art, and coding. I’m proficient in easy to learn, low barrier graphic coding but I’m also comfortable with some other code languages.
Beyond teaching, I make robots and perform as a puppeteer. These projects have to go beyond code and engineering. They need to have personality.
