$5 off for your 1st week: BILLIOUTSCHOOLFRIEND5 **new students only** Welcome to Social Butterflies. This will be a "social group" for kids ages 6-9 to make friends and socialize in a SAFE place! Topics Covered: Your little butterfly will practice social skills by communicating with same age peers. They will practice communicating their likes, dislikes, and feelings all in a friendly, safe atmosphere. Class Structure: Each class will follow a similar structure but will have a different social game. Students are welcome to come to classes weekly, or drop in. -Introductions -Share about day -Social Game The social games will vary weekly but will include: -'Would you rather?' -Charades -Pictionary -Name that tune -Scavenger Hunt -Bingo My Teaching Style: I am a former elementary school teacher. My teaching style in this class will be to facilitate the discussion and to keep it friendly. I want students to be able to share their thoughts and have fun meeting peers from all over the world. My name is Teacher Meg. I am so glad you're here!
I am excited to offer different types of classes including... but not limited to:
Pre-K/Kindergarten skills (ages 4-6), Sight Words Classes (ages 4-7), First Grade Phonics, Writing Sentences, English as a Second Language (ESL) **Private Tutoring & Group Conversational English practice, & Story Time/Art (elementary).
My Background:
I obtained a Bachelor of Science in 2012 from Barton College in North Carolina. I am a licensed teacher in the areas of Elementary Education K-5, Middle Grades Mathematics 6-9, and Special Education K-12. I also hold a TESOL (Teaching English to speakers of other languages) certificate. I have 7 years of public school teaching experience. Currently, I am a Work-At-Home mom of two kids. I have been teaching online for the past 3 years, so I understand the importance of making students feel welcome and included in this setting.
My Philosophy:
I believe all children are capable of being successful, regardless of their backgrounds. I believe that every child has different strengths and can use their strengths to overcome their weaker areas. I also think that the more fun a child has, the more they will want to learn.
Fun Facts About Me:
-I have a husband, a daughter, and a son. Both of my children enjoy taking classes on Outschool.
-I have 3 dogs and 1 cat.
-I enjoy running, baking, and finding new restaurants/places to visit.
-My favorite color is blue.
