This class is designed for students of high school age who think that they may want to be an art teacher. Students will learn about creating a scope and sequence, creating lessons, giving feedback, and other general "life as an art teacher" info. Weekly, students will experience an introduction to the class, one or more art teacher challenges to complete (some will be individual, some will be group-based). Students should leave the class having a better idea of what it's like to be an art teacher. Week 1 - Intro, Q&A, Setting Up An Art Classroom, Daily Activities Week 2 - Goals/Approach to Art Instruction Week 3 - Long Term Planning for Art Teachers (Scope & Sequence) Week 4 - Reverse Planning from Big Goals to Individual Lessons Week 5 - Writing a Lesson Plan For One Project Week 6 - Assessments & Adjustments Week 7 - Final Presentation Work Session & Feedback Week 8 - Final Presentations of Unit Plans

Computer/Tablet Notebook & Pen or Pencil (or digital note-taking option) Some art materials will be needed, and may depend on student choices for project planning. All students should have available: paper, pencil, sharpie, colored pencils, and watercolor. All of these items can be purchased for $20 total or less at a big box or art supply store.
