In this 4-week course, we’ll dive into Skylark, exploring its themes with engaging comprehension, vocabulary, and summarizing activities. Then, we'll compare it to Sarah, Plain and Tall as we craft a detailed compare/contrast essay. Learn to use transition words that make your writing shine. Join us for a fun, skill-building journey through these classic books!

Chapters 1-3
Students will read chapters 1-3 for the first class. We will discuss vocabulary, comprehension, and compare/contrast essays. Students will learn how to look up vocabulary on an online dictionary/thesaurus and summarize the first 3 chapters.

Lección 2:
Chapters 4-7
Students will read chapters 4-7 before they come to class. We will discuss the comprehension questions, vocabulary and work on a Venn Diagram to start comparing Sarah, Plain and Tall to Skylark. Students will pick an optional project they would like to complete to go along with Skylark.

Chapters 8-11
Please read chapters 8-11 for this session. Students will complete all comprehension questions, vocabulary activities and add to their Venn diagram.

Chapters 12-15
Chapters 12-15 need to be read before this session. We will discuss comprehension, vocabulary and the plot of the story. Students will make sure all comparisons are finished on the Venn diagram.

I will use Google Forms to quiz students at the end of the book to make sure they comprehended the book.
At the end of class, we will sometimes play games on Room Recess if the students have worked really hard.
Requisitos previos
Students will need to read Sarah, Plain and Tall before taking this course since we will be comparing and contrasting the first two books in the series. Knowing how to write a paragraph is also helpful for this class.

Hi, friends! Welcome to my class! My courses are in all elementary academic areas along with some crafting classes. I love teaching! I come to you with 20 years of teaching experience and have taught all subjects in grades PK-4. I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Elementary Education from Ball State University. I hold an Ohio Teaching License in grades Pre-K through 5. I truly believe that everyone is gifted in some way, so I try to find the strengths in my students to assist in learning new material. It is my goal to make learning easy and fun. Currently, I live in Ohio and spend my days at home with my two children. My husband teaches high school World History and coaches golf. I enjoy crocheting, scrapbooking, golfing, and using my Cricut to make unique gifts.
