Palabras a la vista n.° 1: Elefante y cerdito: ¡Hoy volaré!

In this course we will read some Elephant and Piggie excerpts from Today I Will Fly. We will learn some sight words and early words geared for Kindergarten and First Grade students.   We will practice sounding out words and learn to love the art of comedy in books. These books are so funny. Every student will get a chance to practice reading and of course, laughing along with Elephant and Piggie. The illustrations in these books help readers learn that emotions and body language come into play as well when reading and communicating. We will practice those emotions using our early acting skills as well. My energetic teaching style will help students get excited about reading and my goal is to help these early readers learn to love reading as much as I do. 

Each class period, students will first be introduced to the Elephant and Piggie excerpts, then encouraged to read key words for the lesson each day. We will play games and review some tips and hints on how to help the readers remember important sounds and letters for the words we focus on during lessons.  

Please bring a paper and pencil to class so we can doodle and practice writing our words as we learn them.
