This Japanese course is for enthusiastic learners who have completed Japanese for Kidz Intro 1, Intro 2 and Hiragana.  Students will use the textbook, Japanese For Young People, to continue to build the foundations for fluency in Japanese.    All written classwork will be done in Hiragana and Katakana. 

Contents: (Session 1)

Students will use the Japanese for Young People (Student Book) and will cover Chapters 1-3 over the 12 week session (approximately one chapter every 3-4 weeks).  Each week, students will have an opportunity to practice target language and vocabulary through conversation with the teacher and classmates.  The text provides a framework for verbal exercises as well as written exercises.  Content from the previous session will also be reinforced throughout the current session. Students will have access to Quizlet.com vocabulary sets to reinforce textbook learning, as well as to continue to build fluency in reading hiragana.  The class will include multi-media, videos, music, and cultural lessons related to the season or subject matter.   The classroom is an integral part of Japanese for Kidz classes as it allows a place to communicate, share work, and complete homework. It is expected that students are visiting the classroom several times per week.
