Perfil
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I teach Violin and Viola, and my teaching style is learner and interest centered.
I offer materials that cover classical, folk/fiddle, and pop style of playing, and can work with students to learn familiar and fun music like Disney favorites, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings soundtracks.

My background is in Early Childhood Education. I spent 6 years working in this field with an emphasis on art and music in the classroom. This has given me skills in meeting learners where they are at, engaging them using what inspires and excites them, and tailoring instruction to their specific needs and preferences. My strengths lie in empowering learners to find their skill and joy in music.

I have taught Violin to individual students for 10 years. I have been teaching one on one classes at my own studio for 3 years. I have experience teaching violin to neurodivergent students, and would be happy to discuss with families any specific requests or needs students may have. I have ben teaching viola for almost 2 years now as well.

As a young violin student at 15, I won second place at the Lyons Fiddle Festival in the Juniors division, playing "Ashokan Farewell." I have participated in community orchestras in my area as well.
Ongoing professional development classes and enrichment are important to my teaching style and philosophy. Learning is lifelong, and I feel to be a good teacher, I need to know what it is to be a good learner!
I am currently taking classes to complete my degree in music education at Moravian University. I am hoping this will increase my skills and knowledge that I can share with my students!
My teaching philosophy centers around helping children find their internal motivation and helping them to develop and explore things on their own terms! I want students to feel relaxed, engaged, and have ownership in their class and their work!

Class rules and policies:

- Classes that have been missed are not eligible for refunds or rescheduling. Communication to cancel or reschedule 24 hours or more in advance is welcome. In the event of extenuating circumstances, I understand some families may wish to reschedule their lesson. If my schedule allows, I am happy to reschedule as I am able.
- According to Outschool Policy, after 3 missed classes with no communication, a student is automatically unenrolled.
-I am able to help students to adjust and better their technique more effectively if they are on camera. In addition, students must appear on camera at the beginning of each lesson to confirm I am teaching the student enrolled, in accordance with Outschool's safety policies.
-Only the enrolled child may be on camera during the duration of the lesson according to Outschool Policy. Family members engaging in non disruptive background activity, or learning coaches assisting with brief adjustments or needs at my request are not in violation of this rule.
- I am happy to build ongoing relationships with my students and their families. I appreciate the trust you all place in me weekly to educate with professionalism. For safety reasons, I ask that students and families keep all communication on the Outschool Platform in accordance with the Outschool Safety Policy.
