What will be taught? Students will learn about the cultural diversity of the Western Hemisphere, focusing on how artistic expression, language, religion, and food are influenced by various cultural groups, including American Indians, Europeans, Asians, and Africans. What topics will you cover? Definition and elements of culture (belief systems, languages, social relationships, institutions, and material goods) Historical contributions and interactions among cultural groups Cultural diversity reflected in artistic expression, language, religion, and food How cultural diversity continues to evolve and shape societies today How is your class structured? The class is structured around an engaging and humorous video lesson, followed by interactive activities, guided notes, discussion questions, a comparison essay assignment, and a creative documentary project. Students will engage with the material through various formats, including slideshows, peer feedback, and written reflections. How will you teach? I will teach through a combination of storytelling, visual presentations, interactive activities, and guided note-taking to make the content engaging and accessible. Students will be encouraged to share their ideas and insights through discussions, projects, and written assignments. What's your teaching style? My teaching style is engaging, humorous, and interactive, designed to make learning enjoyable and relatable for 7th graders. I use storytelling and real-world connections to help students understand and appreciate cultural diversity. How much will learners get to interact with you? Learners will interact with me through lectures, guided note-taking, interactive activities, structured discussions, and one-on-one feedback on assignments. They will also participate in peer feedback sessions during the Cultural Showcase Project and receive individualized feedback on their essays and documentary projects.
