In this flexible schedule class, students will critically analyze character development, motivations, and other literary aspects throughout the third book of the Hunger Games trilogy. The course sequence will be as follows: This course is designed to last six weeks. Each week, the learner will read an average of three chapters. Some weeks require a little bit more or less, but this is outlined in the syllabus.

The Cliffhanger Prediction
The second book, Catching Fire, leaves off on a major cliff hanger. We will review that and make a prediction about the resolution of this story. Lección 2:
Character Analysis
Students will choose a new character to analyze, main or supporting. As the story unfolds they will depict character development, motivations, and underlying intention. Lección 3:
The Just-War Theory
Students will explore the Just-War Theory from the first book. If they have not read the first book, this is okay because we are going to review the concept. They will determine if their initial thoughts on the theory are still the same or if they have formed a new opinion. Lección 4:
Morality
Students will analyze the motivations of both sides as the story comes to a climactic point. Students will look at their initial predictions and decide if they still believe in them. Otros detalles

I would highly recommend the first two Hunger Games classes before this one, however this novel can be enjoyed as a stand-alone as well.

I am currently a research fellow, earning my PhD in education at the University of Oklahoma. The specialty of my research is to arm students with skills and knowledge to transition from school and into adulthood - no matter what age, it is never too early or too late! I also serve as a military reservist, Lieutenant in the US Coast Guard.
I earned my associate degree in child psychology, then my bachelor of science in education from Liberty University, and then my master of science in special education from Johns Hopkins University.
I teach classes that are based on real-life experience and literature. If a student can connect a concept to an experience, then they are engaging in valuable learning!
For example, my one on one tutoring sessions typically involve the interest of a student (ex. cooking), and my lesson will be constructed around famous chefs/ bakers from history, utilizing math and science skills, even marketing, business, and finance, as these play a role in a career or hobby surrounding cooking.
