Want to share a secret message with elegance and style? Then the Acrostic Poem is for you!

To introduce learners to the Acrostic poetry form, I begin this class with a brief history of the Acrostic Poem which emerged during the Renaissance and share some examples from that time period. 

After presenting the history of Acrostic Poetry, I reveal the secret message embedded in these types of poems and how they are constructed. Once we've studied the history and form of the Acrostic and reviewed examples of this message-within-a-poem form, we'll get our creative juices flowing by writing Acrostics of our own. Our writing time will be in the form of a workshop with learners working both independently and in collaboration with fellow learners and me as needed. To close the class those learners who would like to are invited to share their creations with the group along with the imagery that inspired their writing.
