Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. 2 - 3
In this ongoing class students will gather together to develop and practice their reading skills. Students will meet twice a week to read stories (both fiction and non fiction) together. Students will practice active listening, reading independently and/or with teacher assistance, and reading as a group.

Each week there will be two texts. The first text will be fictional (stories about unicorns, dragons, special events, etc). The second text will be non fiction and often based on the first to third grade common core curriculum. This will allow students to practice their reading skills and refresh / be introduced to important topics (mixing colors, living and non living things, insects, electricity, buildings, geography, activities, etc).

The schedule will be similar to the following:
1. Greetings. Students and teacher will say hello to one another. As we wait for other students (2-3 minutes) students will get a chance to share anything they would like about their day :)
2. Students will be introduced to the topic and make predications about the reading. Students can share if they have any connection to the weeks reading.
3. Students and teacher will read out loud. Here students will practice active listening (following along with the teacher) and individual reading. All students will be given the chance to read independently and/or with teacher assistance. The reading will be shared on the screen and students will also be provided with a hard copy should they wish to print it.
4. We will discuss the text. Students will answer questions based on the text. The questions will vary (order of events, definitions, predictions about the characters, facts from the story, etc).
5. Goodbye / See you next time :)

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will progress their reading skills while learning different topics from the first to third grade curriculum. Students in this class should be at a grade two reading level (though slightly below or above is more than okay) as this is not a reading rule class, but rather a class that focuses on improving fluency and comprehension. Students will practice recalling important information, defining words, and much more.
