Hello! My name is Ms. Devra and I have been teaching since 1997. I have experience teaching grade levels K thru 12 on several platforms, to include online learning and the traditional classroom. I have also taught English language to students ranging from ages 5-99 years of age located in Japan, Singapore, and Thailand. I also taught Spanish to high school students. Presently I work with Bright From The Start located in Georgia, with 4 and 5 year old's preparing the students for Kindergarten.
I enjoy teaching all levels in any subject, but I especially love teaching language arts, literacy, debates, science, and art. I also love teaching children to think outside the box by using creativity.
Creativity-- is an important skill for children. We might act out a storybook one day or create a U.S. map using dried pasta noodles the next. The key is to make sure all activities are educational and help children to progress in their academics, social skills, cognitive skills, and emotional development. I learned that children learn best when they are having fun. As a teacher I get to engage and create curriculum that promote learning as well as social, cognitive, and emotional development.
My passion for children also goes outside of the classroom. I have fostered 9 children, ages 10-17 because I want to ensure that every child has a fair chance to succeed and grow. I foster cared for 5 yrs and absolutely loved it.
With all my experience working with and caring for children outside of my own, I have learned that their educational journey is to help them to understand and attain some of the most basic and foundational academic, social, cognitive, and emotional concepts. I am a firm believer that each student has the ability to succeed as long as they are given encouragement, opportunity, and proper resources. My goals for each student is personal at its best when it comes to a safe and caring learning environment in which they are free to express their opinions and mature into responsible adults within society. Being an educator, its a blessing to assist a student in their journey and provide them with guidance along the way. A teacher once told me never say you can't do it, and til this day I still believe you can do anything. I am passionate on working with children and ensuring that my technique in teaching for every student is effective according to their needs.
Every student is unique and not one size fits all. If you don't imagine, nothing ever happens at all.
