Learners will be introduced the scientific process in this fun-filled 4 week class! Learners will be able to converse with each other on all sorts of scientific topics that peak their interest. Learners will design and implement an experiment with guidance as they, from start to end, learn about the scientific process. Learners will also be introduced to hypothesis formulation, data gathering, data analysis, variables, as well as presenting skills. In addition, relevant vocabulary and correct punctuation, sentence, and paragraph structure will be practiced as they create their own trifold posters. Learners will also practice articulating thoughts in a mindful way as they present to one another and grade each other for the purpose of improvement and learning. Week 1: What's our question? - Students will choose a topic of interest and together we will formulate a question to be tested - Speak about interesting questions of history! - What is objectivity? - What's your interest? Week 2: Supplies List, Hypothesis, Variables - Create a tailored experiment for student's interest - What is an independent/dependent variable? - What is a Hypothesis? - Trivia - some of the different hypothesis that changed the world! Week 3: Data, Graph Creation, Table Creation, Results, and Conclusion - What is data? - What are the type of graphs and how do we know when to use them? - Graphing - Title, Axis Labels, Scale, Units - Tri-fold Science Poster Board Introduction Week 4: Virtual Presentations and Group Discussion

Hello!
My name is Anastasia and both a science educator/curriculum writer and violinist! I offer science education for all types of learners! Let's face it - the sciences are hard. Let me take some of the weight off your shoulders. I'm a bit new to this platform, but I'm not new to the sciences. I've spent a better part of 3 decades learning, and then teaching. My goal for every student, is to help foster a love of learning whilst developing a learner's ability to think critically. The sciences involve a lot of conceptualization and application. All my curriculum reaches science core standards, and then some! Let me relieve you of the responsibility and help your child gain a new perspective, and perhaps new interest, in the field of science!
Science Educator/Curriculum Writer Experience
I received my B.S degree in Neurobiology from the University of Texas at Austin. It is here I received a 3.8 science GPA, and took major level courses in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Neurobiology of Disease, Psychology, Neuroscience (MRI intensive) course, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Calculus based Physics. I also attended medical school at the The University of Texas Health Science Center for 2.5 years, completing my didactic years, half of my clinical rotations, as well as passing the United States Medical License Examiners Step 1 Exam. This comprehensive exam tests the first two didactic years of medical school prior to the rotational years, which confirms students have a sufficient understanding of anatomy, the physiology and pathology of diseases in all the major systems, molecular medicine, pharmacology, biochemistry, pulmonology, neurology, nephrology, obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology, immunology, hematology and oncology. I also performed a proctored dissection of a human cadaver 8-15 hours a week for four months, and have a thorough understanding of anatomy and its functionality. After leaving medical school in pursuit of a passion for education technology, I began writing curriculum for a startup in Psychology/Sociology and Biology Sections. I currently am a science copywriter for science classes on Study.com, and provide mentoring/tutoring for pre-medical students preparing for their MCAT exams covering collegiate level physics, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, and organic chemistry. In addition, I'm a science teacher/mentor for online students for an accredited online high school program in the physical and living sciences which involves NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) curriculum.
My goal for teaching: to help students attain their goals by fostering a love of learning, and provide support so that they have the confidence to ask questions, and answer questions. I would like to help students improve their critical thinking skills, deductive reasoning skills, testing skills, and study skills. Every learner is different, and I do believe in tailoring curriculum to the individual strengths of a student whilst supporting them in their learning journeys!
