Grado de EE. UU. 9 - 12
This is an ongoing class designed to cover high school anatomy and physiology. It will be taught through lectures and slides for those who are auditory and/or visual learners. It will also have interactive activities, experiments, videos, discussions, and games to help students remember the material being taught. Each lesson will cover something new, so students may join in at any time without feeling lost. Sometimes homework will be assigned in the form of a worksheet to be completed, an informative essay to be written, or a project to be made. ****2024/2025 School Year**** Aug 26 - Sep 27: Unit 1 - Intro to A&P & Biology Review (Levels of cellular organization; body systems & major organs; anatomical position, terminology, and directional terms; body cavities and membranes; homeostasis & feedback loops; & Biology Review: Cellular Organelles; 4 types of tissues; Cell Cycle; Cellular transport; DNA & Protein Synthesis) Sep 30 - Oct 11: Unit 2 - Human Histology (Epithelial Tissues, Connective Tissues, Muscle Tissue, Nervous Tissue) Oct 14 - 25: Unit 3 - Integumentary System (Functions of skin, Layers of epidermis, Melanocytes, Structure of dermis, lines of cleavage, hypodermis, sudoriferous glands & sebaceous glands, Anatomy of hair and nails, Skin cancer, Burns) Oct 21 - Nov 15: Unit 4 - Human Skeletal System (Functions of skeletal system; classifications of bones; spongy & compact bone; bone cells; bone ossification; composition of bone; structure of vertebral column; joints) ***Nov 18 - Dec 20: Unit 5 - Human Muscular System - NO CLASS NOVEMBER 27-29*** (Functions of the muscular system; Microscopic muscle tissue; Microscopic muscle tissue; Common diseases of the muscular system) ****NO CLASS DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 10**** January-May Lessons to be listed soon ****2023/2024 School Year**** Aug 28-31: Basics of Chemistry/Intro to Chemistry, Conducting Experiments/Reports & Results Sep 4-7: Measurement/Lab Safety & Tools, Properties of Matter/States of Matter Sep 11-14: Atoms/Elements, Compounds/Mixtures Sep 18-28: Atomic Theory/Quantum Theory Oct 1-23: Periodic Table/Periodic Trends, Electrons/Bonding Oct 25- Nov 16: Valence Shells/Metallic Bonds, Naming Substances/The Mole ****Nov 20-21: Finding Compositions - ONLY ONE CLASS THIS WEEK**** ****NOVEMBER 22 - NOVEMBER 28: NO CLASS**** ****Nov 29-30: Finding Compositions - ONLY ONE CLASS THIS WEEK**** Dec 4-12: Chemical Reactions, Chemical Calculations Dec 14-21: Common Gases/Kinetic Molecular Theory, Gas Laws ****NO CLASS DEC 25 - JAN 3**** January 4 - February 8: Gas Laws/Solubility + Rules & Conditions, Concentrations of Solutions February 12-22: Properties of Acids and Bases/pH Scale, Conjugate Acids & Bases/Titrations ****NO CLASS FEBRUARY 26 - 29**** Mar 4-14: Properties of Acids and Bases/pH Scale, Conjugate Acids & Bases/Titrations ****NO CLASS MARCH 18 - 22**** Mar 25 - Properties of Acids and Bases/pH Scale, Conjugate Acids & Bases/Titrations Apr 8 - May 2: Chemical Equilibrium/Le Chatelier's Principle May 6-9: Chemical Equilibrium/Le Chatelier's Principle May 13-16: 1st & 2nd Law of Thermodynamics/Reaction Rates May 20-23: 1st & 2nd Law of Thermodynamics/Reaction Rates May 27-30: ****2022/2023 School Year**** Sep 5-9: Mineralogy & Crystals Sep 12-16: Types of Rocks & The Rock Cycle Sep 19-23: Earth's Surface & Crust Movement Sep 26-30: Geological Time Scale, Age Dating, & Fossils Oct 3-7: Water / Atmosphere, Precipitation, & Humidity Oct 10-14: Climate, Seasons / Wind & Clouds Oct 17-21: Natural Disasters Oct 24-28: Solar System/Milky Way, Copernicus/Galileo Oct 31-Nov 4: Inner Planets Nov 7-11: Outer Planets/Exoplanets Nov 14-18: Outer Solar System/Galaxies, Asteroids/Comets ****November 21 - December 9: NO CLASS**** Dec 12-16: Life of a Star/Constellations, Sun Dec 19-23: Eclipse/Moon, Moon Phases/Tides ****December 26-January 6: NO CLASS**** Jan 9-13: Black Holes/Dark Matter, Particle Accelerators/Telescopes Jan 16-20: Space Flight/Apollo Project, Satellites/ISS Jan 23-27: Sally Ride/Mae Jemison/Recap, Jan 30-Feb 3: Basics of Biology, Characteristics of Life Feb 6-10: Compounds and Reactions Feb 13-17: Cell Structure, Chemical Energy, APT Feb 20-24: Cell Structure/Chemical Energy/APT, Photosynthesis/Cellular Respiration Feb 27-Mar 3: Mitosis, & Miosis Mar 6-10: Bacteria/Viruses, Prions/Viroids/Disease Mar 13-17: Flu/HIV/AIDS, Diabetes/Cancer Mar 20-24: Protists & Fungi Mar 27-31: Plants ****Apr 3-7: NO CLASS**** Apr 10-14: Animal Kingdom/Invertebrates Apr 17-21: Arthropods/Chordates/Anamniotes/Amniotes ****Apr 24-28: NO CLASS**** May 1-5: Body Systems/Integumentary System/Muscular & Skeletal Systems May 8-12: Nervous & Endocrine Systems May 15-19: Respiratory & Circulatory Systems, Digestive Systems/Immune System May 22-26: Immune System, Intro to Genetics, DNA/RNA/Genetic Engineering May 29- June 1: DNA/RNA, Mutations/Genetic Engineering June 7-8: Natural Selection/Human Evolution

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I went to school for a teaching degree with a major in English and a minor in science. I later went back to add on a history degree. Throughout the years in brick and mortar schools, I taught high school English (general, pre-AP, and at-risk), AP American history, AP world history, chemistry, AP biology, pre-AP anatomy, middle school Earth and life sciences, and IPC.
I was also a scout troop leader for nearly a decade where I taught life skills and made several themed book camps for the scouts. I love to dive into book series with students to promote a love of reading and understanding. I was that kid that waited outside of Barnes and Noble for it to open at midnight on the Tuesday release days of each Harry Potter book (after I read the first one). My goal is to not only get students to want to continue reading the following books in the series I teach, but to have them take a closer look into them and learn about different literary devices. I also have a love of history and always seek multiple views of historic events. Science fascinates me with its ever evolving discoveries. I love when my students get excited to learn more about a subject.
