A booklet of tests can be purchased as a companion to this class and text (see supplies section), as well as a solutions booklet. There are recommended tests for each week. These should be done at home and graded by the parent or the teacher can grade tests if preferred. The tests are used to gauge the students understanding of the material. Parent communication with the teacher is crucial so that we can ensure the student is on track. If a parent finds that the student needs focused instruction or practice, the student can be signed up for 1:1 tutoring.Experiencia de clase

This class is specifically geared for homeschoolers. In each class, I will introduce the topic and explain it in detail using the textbook. Then we will work through examples and practice problems together. I can go over difficult homework problems at the beginning of class the following week. 📚 Saxon Algebra 1, first semester (lessons 1-60). See Syllabus for lesson details. ⏲️ 15 weeks, 2x per week. Starts in Late August and ends Mid-December. There is a break scheduled Thanksgiving week. 👩🏻🏫👨🏻🏫The small class size is designed to encourage class participation. Interaction can help the student learn the material better and build confidence in the topic. 📝 Supplies: Saxon Algebra 1, 3rd Edition textbook (orange and blue), and homeschool packet **including test booklet, pencil and paper, scientific calculator 💯 Grades can be given upon request. Homework problems are expected to be completed (we will discuss difficult problems in class), but will not be graded. Tests can be graded by the parent or teacher, depending on the parent's preference. A certificate can be offered upon successful completion of the course material. Practice is important for learning! Tests are important as an assessment of the student's understanding. Tests are scheduled to be taken at home, every week (the recommended schedule is in the test booklet). If the parent opts to grade the tests, I would like to know how the student is doing.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
Maestría desde Texas A&M University
I am a math tutor with years of tutoring experience. I also have a masters in Civil Engineering, a very math heavy curriculum, so a good algebra foundation is critical. I have also observed students in algebra that lack the required skills from pre-algebra for success. I have a passion for helping students understand math.
