Week 1: You will learn how to draw 3D shapes and add shading using paint to create a robot that looks three-dimensional and serves a purpose to help people in some way. We will begin by looking at real life robots that help people as well, various artists who create robots or inventions including Leonardo Da Vinci as well as watch a video of real life robots. We will create a sketch and then create a final drawing of our robot. We will then add color by learning how to create tints (colors mixed with white) and shades (colors mixed with black) to create value to add shading to help make our robots look more realistic. Week 2: We will observe more robots and discuss ways to embellish our work with details. We will finish our painting and add final touches with sharpie marker and paint. We will cut out our robot and glue onto another colored paper. We will explore a gadget printing technique using recycled/found objects to create shapes similar to using a stamp. We will engage in a "critique" sharing our artwork and reflecting on our art work if time permits.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I teach art classes. I am an elementary art teacher and I work in a public school. I have my Bachelor's degree in Art Education from the University of Maryland and my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education at Towson University.
Building relationships with students is my number one priority. Children need to feel safe, that you care and that they can trust you in order to learn from you. I believe that every child is an artist and that as an art teacher, it is important to nurture that creativity.
I believe that art can be a way for children to learn not just art skills but also creative problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and social emotional skills. Art can be a way for child to develop persistence as well as tolerance for other points of view. Art is a universal language and that helps us to understand other cultures and viewpoints. Art can also be a way to learn academic content like literacy, math, social studies and science. I believe that art can be a fun, creative outlet for students to also express their thoughts and feelings.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, traveling, exercising, and going to the beach. I hope to be able to work with your child.
