In *Robert’s Callback Club: Musical Theater Edition*, students will receive in-depth, real-time feedback on their audition performances from award-winning director and performer Robert Jerome Pagan. This is a performance-focused class where learners will bring in three 32-bar cuts (a ballad, an uptempo, and a contemporary song) with accompaniment tracks and perform each one in a supportive, workshop-style setting. What will be taught: - Acting through song - Audition technique and professionalism - Stage presence and confidence - Song selection and cut strategy - Bringing personality and storytelling into each performance What topics will be covered: We’ll focus on refining the performance side of musical theater auditions, including how to stand out in the room, connect emotionally to the material, and make strong, specific choices. We'll also cover how to handle nerves, adjust to different types of audition rooms, and take direction on the spot. Class structure: Each class session will begin with a brief group warm-up and discussion on a key audition tip or strategy. Then, each learner will perform one song at a time and receive detailed, live feedback. Time is divided fairly to ensure every learner gets personalized notes and time to adjust and try again if needed. Teaching style: Robert’s approach is energetic, empowering, and honest—with a focus on building confidence, encouraging individuality, and preparing learners for real audition experiences. Feedback is direct but supportive, helping each learner grow in their own unique way. Learner interaction: Learners will interact directly with Robert throughout class via live performance, feedback, and open discussion. While there is no lecture, there will be guided insights and personalized coaching based on each student’s performance. Students are encouraged to support one another and learn collaboratively in a positive, creative space. This is not a singing technique class—this is a performance and audition prep experience designed to help young performers level up and stand out.
