When U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed the nation on December 8, 1941, a day after the attack on the Pearl Harbor military base in Hawaii, he described it as "a date that will life in infamy". In this one time class, we will take a look at the growing conflict between the United States and Japan prior to the attack, as well as why the U.S. had an isolationistic mindset. How and why did this one event change the minds of so many Americans? What exactly happened that day? We will examine that Sunday in detail and take a look at the order of the attack, what happened to the different ships and planes, how the people on the island reacted, and how people pulled together to help the wounded.
