What will be taught? This class will cover the causes, events, and consequences of the Reformation. Students will learn how the movement challenged the Catholic Church’s power and led to the rise of Protestant faiths, political shifts, and societal changes in Europe. What topics will you cover? The role of Martin Luther and the 95 Theses The impact of the printing press on the spread of ideas Henry VIII and the formation of the Anglican Church The emergence of Protestant denominations (Lutheran, Presbyterian, Anabaptists) The decline of the Catholic Church’s political influence The Counter-Reformation and Catholic responses The long-term effects of the Reformation on democracy, literacy, and secular governance How is your class structured? The class consists of a funny and engaging educational video script, guided notes, leveled discussion questions, interactive activities, an assignment, and a summative assessment. Students will work through each of these elements to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Reformation. How will you teach? Teaching will include a combination of storytelling, humor, and historical reenactments in the video script, interactive discussions, and creative assignments that encourage historical empathy. Students will be immersed in key events through simulations, debates, and first-person historical writing. What's your teaching style? The class is engaging, humorous, and interactive. Rather than just memorizing facts, students will experience the Reformation through role-playing, creative writing, and analytical discussions. The approach is student-centered, encouraging critical thinking and personal connections to historical events. How much will learners get to interact with you? Learners will have multiple opportunities for interaction, including: Lectures: Delivered in an engaging, story-driven format Games: Activities such as the Reformation Social Media Simulation and News Broadcast Slides: Used to visually reinforce key concepts Video Clips: Historical explanations and reenactments Discussion: Students will engage in guided conversations, debates, and critical thinking exercises Creative Assignments: Opportunities for learners to express their understanding through letters, presentations, and interactive role-plays
