**IMPORTANT**
This course is for Minecraft Java Edition for PC, Mac, and Linux ONLY and is NOT compatible with Game Consoles, iPads or any other devices. If you're not sure which version you have, look at your opening screen where the logo is displayed. "Java Edition" should be integrated with the title. If it's not, you have another version.

Basic experience of playing Minecraft in general is required for joining the game.

This one-time class is tailored for students with no Redstone background. However, students who are familiar with Redstone are also able to take this class if they wish to brush up on basic skills.

The goal of this class is to introduce the following elements and how they work together:
* Redstone dust
* Levers
* Buttons
* Doors
* Trapdoors
* Redstone Torches
* Pressure plates
* Redstone lamps
* Powered rails
* Target
* Signal strength
* Pistons

Class Structure:
This will follow the I do, We do, You Do model.

1. The first part of class will be introducing the elements and showing students how they work (I Do).
2. The middle part of class will be the students exploring the elements (We Do).
3. The last part of class will be the students building a project using a few or all of the elements (You Do).

There are several benefits to Redstone (and Minecraft in general).
* Logical Thinking: Mastering Redstone requires rigorous logical thinking. It teaches students some universal principles of computer programming such a logic loops, order of operation, and debugging.
* Math and Geometry. Manipulating blocks and constructing complex shapes can help improve math performance.
* Engineering: Redstone skills would fall in the category of basic electrical engineering through basic principles and building circuits.
* Social and Business Skills: Examples are relationship-building, project planning, and teamwork.
