In my reading part 3 class, the primary focus will be on comprehension, vocabulary and fluency. Each week we will work on a new vocabulary word, a comprehension strategy, and fluency strategies. This class is recommend to those who are reading at least at a level C and have foundational reading skills (my first two reading classes). If your child has not taken my first two reading classes, but has foundational reading skills and reading at a level C or above, then this class is for them. This class will focus on basic comprehension strategies and will help further your child's reading ability. My class is very routine, we will start by discussing the weekly vocabulary word and definition, read the story (students will be taking turns reading or be reading as a whole group), comprehension strategy, and complete the daily activities. We will also be reading fiction and non-fiction books and talking about the difference. The comprehension strategy for each week is below. We will also work on a new vocabulary word and be reading the same story each week to build fluency. We will have difference activities each week, depending on the comprehension strategy. Week 1: Realty and Fantasy/Fiction story Week 2: Sequencing /Fiction story Week 3: Compare and Contrast /Fiction story Week 4: Main Idea/Non-fiction story Week 5: Story Elements/Non-fiction story Week 6: Sequencing/Fiction story Week 7: Author's Purpose/Fiction story Week 8: Main Idea/Non-fiction story Week 9: Compare and Contrast/Fiction story Week 10: Cause and effect/Fiction story

I teach a variety of different classes geared toward elementary students ages 3 and up. My classes include ELA, Math, Writing, Phonics, Stories, teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced readers, simple to complex sentences, and much more. I love student participation and encourage it in all my class.
I have 16 years of teaching experience. I teach 4th grade ELA in a public school in NYS and have been teaching for 4 years on Outschool. I have a Masters in Elementary Education, Bachelors in History, Associates in Business. I have taught Pre-k, K, and ESL online. I have taught all subjects. Over my 16 years of teaching, I have gone to many different trainings in ELA, math, behavioral and I am trained in Logics by Ortan Gillingham and currently training and using restorative practices.
I believe every child can learn but not all through the same method. Learning needs to be fun and engaging and needs to be a memorable experience for students to truly understand it.
I am a mom to five wonderful kids ages 6-12. They keep me busy and I love being their number one teacher!
