Does your child struggle to read two and three syllable words?

The Orton Gillingham (OG) philosophy is an instructional approach designed to help individuals with language-based learning difficulties, such as dyslexia. It is based on the understanding that ALL students benefit from explicit, systematic, and multi-sensory instruction to develop strong reading, writing, and spelling skills.

In this class, students will practice using the Orton Gillingham Method of syllable division to divide multi syllable words and label the syllable types, in order to read the whole word and not just guess! This is a HANDS ON, practice based class....no sitting around listening to long and boring lectures! 

Class will "look" like this:
**a lesson on the sound/ concept for the day
**the rest of class will be hands on practicing dividing words on a whiteboard or using physical paper (highly recommended!). I will model both ways in each class!
**We will practice reading sentences.

We will review concepts from week to week so jump in any time! 

***Your student will NEED paper and a pen/marker, or a white board with marker to get the best experience in this class. Students need to PRACTICE dividing the words themselves!

Extra words will be sent out after class for extra practice -- optional of course, but highly recommended! I will give feedback on anyone who sends me their divided words.

Requisitos previos
Students should know their vowel sounds (both long and short), and be able to attempt to read and write 2 syllable words.

For the first class, your student will need pencil, a highlighter or marker, and some index cards (any size or color) OR slips of paper about the size of index cards.
Students can switch to paper and pencil, or a dry erase board with a marker when they feel confident they understand the concept of syllable division. I will model both ways in each class.
