Student must have basic reading skills mastered (late Kindergarten to early first grade). Please see below for a sample of the types of passages we will read during class. If students need help reading and writing, they should have someone at home sit with them and help.

I will upload two worksheet to be printed prior to class. We will complete one or both, depending on time. 

Please bring a red, blue and green crayon, colored pencil, or marker to class.  

During class, each student will be asked to:
1. Read the passage 3 times and color a star after each time reading. (I mute students during this part and have each student read at their own pace.)
2. Read each question and color or highlight the sentence within the text that contains the answer. (I ask for volunteers to read each question out loud.)
3. Write the answer using a complete sentence. (I give examples of possible answers. We talk about every sentence needing a capital letter and period.)

Sample passage: Mom and dad gave Ben a puppy for his birthday.  Ben calls him red because he has a reddish fur. Ben plays with his puppy every day. If he loses his ball, Red finds it for him. Ben loves his puppy!
