Los lectores son líderes: fluidez y comprensión lectora

In this class, students will learn how to use different reading strategies that will help with comprehension of a text. Students will also practice reading for fluency.

Class Structure
*Class will start with a fun warm-up activity to get students comfortable and ready to learn.

*Students will be introduced to reading strategies that will be used during reading to help strengthen comprehension and fluency.

*We will then have a discussion before reading a short story to check for prior knowledge on the topic of the text.

*Students will then receive a guided reading lesson. During this lesson students will read a text (using the reading strategies introduced earlier) and will answer comprehension questions during and after reading. We will also focus on reading fluency.

*We will end the class with another fun exit activity.

Note: Students are asked to read aloud during class (this is optional). Also, students should be reading, at the least, on a late first grade to second grade reading level.
