1 hora por semana. (OPTIONAL) I will upload to the classroom either pdfs, google forms and or videos to practice the skill. Learners are welcome to send pictures of their completed work.

Informal assessment of the student during class time and/or from homework assignments.

In this 7 week course, we will learn the difference between open/closed syllables and vowel markings (breve and macron), strategies to decode and blend two syllable words in compound words and looking for syllable patterns (VCCV, V/CV, VC/V), syllable patterns that end with y and le. 

There are 2 activities in each class. 
-Using a specific syllable pattern graphic organizer, to divide the words into two syllables and then sounding out each syllable part to figure out the word. Then reading a sentence. 
-Using 3 steps to spell a word and then read a sentence. 
For the remainder of class time, we will play games to reinforce the skills and practice reading. 
***This class is great for homeschool, after school or for summer enrichment.

Week 3: Syllable Pattern Division Between Same/Different Consonants (VCCV)-Example: rab/bit or nap/kin
Week 4: Syllable Pattern Division with Open Syllable Patterns (V/CV)- Example: ro/bot
Week 5: Syllable Pattern Division with Closed Syllable Patterns (VC/V)- Example: sev/en
Week 6: Syllable Pattern Division with Syllables ending in y- Example: sun/ny
Week 7: Syllable Pattern Division with Syllables ending in le- Example: ap/ple


***Learners should have:
basic letter sound associations (including consonant blends and digraphs)
concepts of short and long vowel sounds
one syllable concept
decoding and blending skills
sight word recognition 
writing skills

Lección 1:
Week 1: Compound Words: Example: windmill
 In this lesson, we will learn about the rule that makes a compound word. While using a graphic organizer, we will divide a compound word so that has two syllables. We will complete two activities: sounding out compound words, reading sentences and spelling a compound word. The remainder of the class, we will play games to reinforce compound words. 
An examples: wind+mill = windmill

 This week's lesson will focus on that vowel sounds change (short or long sound) depending on if the syllable is open or closed. They will be introduced to vowel markings (breve and macron)

The lessons will be created on Google Jamboard and/or Google Slides in which I will share my screen with the learners. The learners won't need an account to engage in the lessons.
