Bonjour! This is a class for students who have had immersion-style experience with the French language and are ready to learn the skills to begin reading. This class is NOT for beginners. It is taught entirely in French, so students should be able to have a basic conversation (listening and speaking) in French without help.

STUDENT LEVEL 3+
In order to take this class, students must:
-Have taken some immersion French (4-5 months)
-Be able to have a conversation in French with minimal help from English translations or an adult
-Be able to listen and follow instructions given in French

NOTE: if you are unsure if your student is ready, feel free to message me with your concerns or questions!

Each week, we will work on different letter sounds and phonetic combinations. We will use some speaking exercises, and oral questions, but the focus will be on reading and writing.
Each week, we will look at one phonetic sound (either a letter or 2-3 letter combination). We will look at how the letter/sound is written and formed, the sound it makes, and see examples in words. Students will write the letter and draw a picture to go with it in their “Alphabet Books.” We will also create the letter with modeling dough. Then, we will read a book together, and students will repeat after me in order to practice.

Perfil
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have been learning French for 7 years now, from French 1 - French 5 as well as 2 years of immersion French classes. I am conversationally fluent and at a B2 level. I have tutored French immersion from May 2020 through August 2020 when the French immersion school near us closed for quarantine, and I've been teaching French through Outschool for 1 year.

I took the French CLEP test a few years ago and got maybe 5 points away from a perfect score while testing out of and getting credit for all the French classes at my local community college.

I also continue to take French lessons with native speakers, and I am working towards my Bachelors in French, which includes classes in advanced French immersion, French literature, and French education.

I also have my certification in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), the principles from which I apply to my French classes.
