¡Club de lectura y debate sobre literatura clásica!

In this class, we will read selections from classic literature aloud and take time to reflect on what was read. At each meeting we will spend about 30 minutes reading a selection in class, then take the last 10 to 15 minutes of each class to analyze what we read, including the setting, action, the main points of the selection, what the characters did during that selection, and how they changed during that selection. We will also make predictions about what may happen next.

Week 1 (June 8): Louisa May Alcott: Characters
Week 2 (June 15): Louisa May Alcott: Setting
Week 3 (June 22): Louisa May Alcott: Plot
Week 4 (June 29): Louisa May Alcott: Language

Each week, the class will vote on session topics with the class majority deciding on the reading topic. We will decide as a class which classic literature we will dive into, and how we will reflect on what is read. Each week will be new and different, so join in anytime! Because discussion will be mainly based on what was read during class, it is not necessary to attend every class, and the selections read may be from any part of these stories, so your student may join in at any time.

My teaching style is relational, interactive, and student-centered. I believe we learn as much from each other as we can from a textbook, and I often allow students equal time to share their perspectives, while keeping learning goals in mind. We will have about 20 minutes per class to reflect on what was read in this class.
